This was the first week of training for my next half marathon. I ran 4 miles on Monday, walked 3 on Wednesday, Ran 5 on Thursday, and ran 8 this morning. The temperatures have fallen significantly, but that’s no reason to slow down!
I’ve decided to run the Oregon Winter Half, which takes place January 23rd on a golf course (and vineyard!) near Portland. Though I plan to run (at some point) the Miami Half that I was forced to miss last January, I decided to make a less expected choice this winter. It’s no Miami, but scheduling a January or February race is a good way to keep moving through the holidays, when it’s tempting to abandon everything that helps me feel productive and energetic.
Also, though I’m not focused on doing it in a certain amount of time, I am working on “half in half.” You know, running a half marathon in half of the 50 states. This race will move me toward that goal. And I love the arrangements I’ve been able to make for travel and lodging. It should be a great little trip that prioritizes health and well being. You know what I always say: Grateful I can move, so I’m moving!
